Introducing Alanna!
Crafting for the “Craftily Challenged”
Are you craftily challenged? Completely Confused? Overwhelmed by stores like Hobby Lobby and Michael’s? Have no fear….Alanna is here! Since joining the Sew Crafty family about a month ago I have been surrounded by creativity and craftiness and now I am ready to put some of my new found knowledge to good use.
It’s time that I take on a few projects of my own. The only problem is I have no idea where to start - I consider myself to be “craftily challenged.” So in a quest to find my crafting niche, I have decided to take on a new craft each month and bring you all along for the journey.
This month I will be taking on the ancient art of Origami. It seems like the perfect beginner craft for an on the go college student (Go Coogs!) and will make a great use for my boring lecture notes…just kidding. This site is the perfect place to start. It includes pictures and step-by-step instructions in plain English for the “craftily challenged”. So now it’s time to grab some paper and get to folding - I’ll keep you posted on what I make!
Alanna is the newest addition to Sew Crafty! A junior Journalism major at UH, she brings her love of publishing, words and her general awesomness to our shop on Saturdays and Sundays. Stop on by and say hello! OH! And if you want to learn origami first hand while enjoying a glass of wine, check out Craft Cocktails this month!
Etsy Sunday - Vanity Case!

When it comes to furniture, I’m a big fan of anything that saves space. Especially when it looks like one of the wall cabinets from Vanity Case! Each one is unique, made from a vintage suitcase with custom touches just for you. God I love Etsy - Happy Sunday peeps!
Etsy Sunday - This and That from Japan!
It’s no secret that I love Japanese fabric - it’s whimsical, colorful and of dang good quality. When Etsy started gaining steam, that’s the first thing I searched for and I was not disappointed! One of my newest finds in my quest for all things from Japan is This and That from Japan, an Etsy seller who specializes in fabric, craft books (warning: they are all in, you guessed it, Japanese) and other supplies like stamps (Patty - I’m looking in your direction… :o)
