Etsy Sunday - Edinburgh’s Best!

Posted by Sarah on Jul 26, 2009

Seriously! Like a freakin’ “castle” castle. On a cliff. With mist. Really people - no foolin’!

I’m almost as impress with this castle as I am with what Edinburgh’s crafters are offering via Etsy! The jewelry at Luxedeluxe is indeed luxurious, but missing the hefty price tag, while Jess Lovell’s spooky and kooky linocuts make me smile - office decor anyone?

Last but not least, Emma Lamb’s rocking crocheted masterpieces make me want to redecorate! Maybe this will be my office theme for the new place? Hmmm…

Whew! This was a hard post - there are so many amazing sellers representing Edinburgh it was difficult to choose which ones to feature! Next up, London!

Etsy Sunday - Glasgow’s Best!

Posted by Sarah on Jul 19, 2009

The cold weather really suits me - especially when I have been sweating it out in Houston for the past few months (sorry Houston peeps - I will try and bring a cold front back with me!).
And apparently so does Glasgow. No sooner than I typed in Glasgow in Etsy’s Shop Local search bar did Asking For Trouble’s shop pop up! Cupcakes, adorable pin sets and journals that would have Happy Katie jumping for joy!

I nearly bought one of Scottish Etsian Breagha hawt ruffle bags, but then was thwarted by Mr. Sew Crafty, while another cool seller, Covetables, had me at “Make Your Own Owl Kit

That does it for this week’s Etsy Sunday - I have a glen and a ghost tour calling my name! Tune in next week for Etsy Sunday - Edinburgh edition!

Crafts - On a PLANE!

Posted by Sarah on Jul 18, 2009

Traveling with craft supplies can be a bit tricky these days and, since I’m going to be on a plane today for like 10 hours, I wanted to figure out what I could do on in the air instead of read Twilight (thanks a lot Erin). Soo here’s a roundup of plane friendly crafts, rules for craft supplies and other things to do on a plane. For 10 hours.

What supplies can you bring on a plane? Apparently, blunt scissors are ok, but metal knitting needles and crochet hooks are no bueno! For the full scoop, check out TSA.

Want to knit on the plane? About.com has you covered with a great article by a knitting pro!

Need a great project to work on while you’re in the air? Puffer fish barf bag puppet, Bender washcloth (thanks Patty!!) and origami from Intrtuctables have you covered!

So Long Crafters!

Posted by Sarah on Jul 17, 2009

55 degrees. Raining. Lots of sheep. Sound like a wonderful, albeit weird dream? Nope - it’s my vacation destination this July!

The fam and I are trading 100 degree temps for the rainy and cold call of the Scottish moors starting this weekend. While I’m away, Alanna will be holding the fort down and helping you with all your craft related needs! I’m not completely disappearing though, I’ll be bringing you the latest in craft from across the pond (if the wifi holds up!)

Have a wonderful rest of July and I’ll see you guys in August!

Crafting for Craftily Challenged Pt.5

Posted by Alanna on Jul 07, 2009

This month I took my crafting to a whole new level—a virtual level that is. While searching for my next project I stumpled upon some really great sewing blogs. My favorite one is called Sew Stylish. It’s great if you are looking for step by step pictures, completed projects, tips and tricks. If you into knitting, crochet, sewing and everything in between this is the perfect blog for you.

Until next time, happy crafting!
