What happens when you take “a newfangled fair that brings together science, art, craft and engineering plus green, food and music” and put it in everyone’s favorite hippie town?

Complete and utter awesomeness. That’s what.

Brace yourselves. Maker Faire is coming to Austin.

The super-sweet offspring of CRAFT and MAKE magazines, Maker Faire is DIY paradise - a place to get your craft on, in pretty much whatever way you can think of, and then show it off.

They’ve got workshops on “puppets who wish not to die.” They’ve got vintage flower looms. They’ve got blinky bugs, mystery phones and a group called “The Devil-ettes.” And it’s all going down in Austin - the small-town city that does weird better than just about anywhere else. Still not convinced?

So, where will you be Oct. 18 - 19?
